Learning language through culture

Understanding a new language and a different culture takes personal curiosity and thoughtful interactions. Our Language & Culture tours are designed for both. Each tour gives students the chance to practice the language they’ve learned in the classroom all while discovering new traditions, foreign flavors, local phrases, and what everyday life looks like in these destinations.

Explore French-Canada with our Language & Culture in Quebéc tour, or take a deep dive into Spanish and Taíno culture with our Language & Culture in Puerto Rico tour.

PARTNER SPOTLIGHT

Cabane à Pierre Sugar Shack

In addition to being a special time to come together, meals offer an incredible time to practice language skills. At Cabane à Pierre Sugar Shack in Québec, students discover the history and process of maple syrup production and sugaring while dining on classic Québécoise dishes. (Along with a side of maple syrup for everything, of course.) After the meal, they’ll practice their French further while learning traditional song and dance from a local musician. They might even get the chance to grab the spoons and jump in to play some percussion with the band.

The Explore America difference

“The educational impact this tour had on my group was powerful. The exposure to the French-Canadian culture was exciting and being immersed in a francophone environment was quite beneficial.”
